General Contractor Guidelines for Optimus
Flatwork Finish Removal And Disposal
As with all additional finishing requirements on decorative concrete slabs the removal of the retarded surface matrix and the Optimus Flatwork Finish residues including retarded hydrated cement paste, fine and coarse aggregates should be handled carefully and disposed of properly.
All solid particles should be disposed of in accordance with local rules and regulations regarding normal solid construction waste. Sand berms or diversionary dykes should be utilized on all areas surrounding storm sewers, city drains and run-off or collection ponds to prevent alkali run off due to accumulated cement wash off during the cleaning process from going down any accessible drains. Collect all solid particles and allow water to either run clear oevaporate and dispose of the solid particles as normal construction waste.
Optimus Flatwork Finish residues left on the hardened concrete slab are inert pigments and water soluble polymers and generally not considered hazardous, yet care should be taken not to rinse these residues down storm drains or sewers at any time in accordance with all local rules and regulations. It is generally best to divert and collect all residues and wash off during the finishing process to eliminate potential concerns at all times.
